Vita: Christian Griesinger was born 5.4.1960 in Ulm/Donau
as son of Karl and Christa Griesinger, he participated at the chemistry
olympiades, Thorn, Polen (bronze medal); Leningrad, UdSSR in 1978 and 1979,
studied chemistry (1979-1984; diploma thesis on NMR methods with Prof.
Dr. H. Kessler) and physics (1979-1982: prediploma) at the University of
Frankfurt; was awarded a Ph.D. (thesis with Prof. Dr. H. Kessler, University
of Frankfurt, on NMR spectroscopy for biological molecules); was a postdoctoral
fellow and assistant in the Laboratorium for Physical Chemistry with Prof.
Dr. R.R. Ernst, ETH Zürich (1986-1989), was appointed as C4-Professor
for Organic Chemistry at the University of Frankfurt (1990-2001) and appointed
as Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical
Chemistry, Göttingen in 1999.
Distinctions: Study funded by the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes
(1978-1984); Stipend of the Fonds of the Chemical Industry (FCI) for Ph.D.
students; Stipend of the Fonds of the Chemical Industry for finish of the
Ph.D. study (1986); Ph.D. award of the Friends and sponsors of the University
of Frankfurt (1987); Dozentenstipendium ("Young-Scientist's stipend")
of the FCI (1989); Prize for Best Chemistry Book of the "Fonds der Chemischen
Industrie" together with Prof. Quinkert and Prof. Egert for: "Aspects
of Organic Chemistry" (1996); Sommerfeld prize of the Bavarian Academy
of Sciences (1997); Leibniz Prize of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft
